Shanghai Daily reported that two workers were killed and another 13 injured after a ladle furnace in a steel plant in Shanghai fell off at about 9:10 AM this morning.
The company said that the ladle furnace toppled as the workers of the MCC Baosteel Technology Service Co were removing slags from it.
One side of the ladle hook fell as crane was carrying the 270 tonne ladle furnace, which toppled over. The molten iron inside poured out, killing two workers below immediately, and injured another 13
Among the workers sent to the hospital for burn treatment, five are suffering serious injuries.
Shanghai work safety officials said that the cause of the accident is under investigation.
